Training and mentoring

Training/teaching

Does your team need an uplift? Would you like a (female) designer to teach a workshop at your conference.

I can teach any of the things I’ve been doing for the last 20 years. I have workshop content already developed for:

  • Facilitating design workshops
  • Design research / user research practices
  • Research methods
  • Moving from research to design
  • Presenting design work
  • Communicating design research
  • User experience design
  • Information architecture
  • Detailed interaction design
  • Writing for online
  • Designing for people (cognition, behavioural economics, decision-making etc)

And can create something specific as needed for your team or event. Here’s a list of all the workshops I’ve taught at conferences in the past.

Mentoring

I mentor both small groups and individuals.

My mentoring approaches and arrangements are specific to each situation and need – I don’t have a generic approach for it.

Some organisations have me mentor a team through a project, where I provide guidance around what activities to conduct and how to conduct them, but don’t get involved in any of the work. For some I get very lightly involved in the work (usually analysis).

For organisations or individuals without a defined project, I usually create an example project to work through, so the mentoring is grounded in real work.

Mentoring arrangements can be short term or long, frequent or infrequent. It all depends on what you need to get out of the relationship!
